The mystic Cordillera Vilcanota (also known as “White Cordillera”) has many snow covered peaks amongst this massive chain of mountains. Located at the south of Cusco and dominated by AUSANGATE Mountain (6384 m), this secluded area has always remained isolated from the external modern influences of the town of Chilca, keeping intact many customs and habits of the pre-colonial period.

Rainbow Mountain 2D Peru:
This trek will satisfy demanding physical exertion, and will deliver unforgettable memories of sumptuous panoramas of high mountain, formidable glaciers, crystalline rivers, turquoise lakes, and peaceful pastoral scenes of the herds of spangled and alpacas tended by Native Andean people’s dressed in traditional multi-coloured clothing. This new route, apart from the beaten path, is a true adventure through an untouched and wild natural world, where the only people you may encounter are the small communities of Quechua-speaking Inca descendants that inhabit the vast wide plains of Altiplano, then returning to the small village from which you started.
Day 1.- Cusco – Vinicunca.
We leave Cusco early morning, and all time to adjust to its altitude by exploring through the Vilcanota Valley and small villages, colonial church, and its small inca site. A short drive from here takes us to the beginning of the trek, operated by Quechua-speaking Inca descendants. After a short break our hike will continue toward Vinicunca The Rainbow Mountain. This is a perfect opportunity to stop for photos and a snack. From here we continue on to our campsite at 4200 m.a.s.l that we should reach by lunch time. After lunch we set off to explore the area of Machu Raqay ( the old thunder).
Day 2.- Palomani Pass- Cusco.
This is the most challenging but most rewarding day of the hike. We will rise early on the final morning to see the magnificent sunrise and spend the day exploring this huge marvel. A 3hr hike takes us to the highest pass of the trek, known as Palomani Pass (approx 5100 masl), with imposing views over the Cordillera Vilcanota and the Ausangate Snow Mountain rising up over the horizon. From here on the rest of the hike will be downhill as we head to Chilca and then return to Cusco.
